Listed below are Frequently asked questions. refer to these questions first if you are not sure how to do a common task we have performed on several projects.
* How do i do well in here? try, work hard, turn in quality work, be a good person, listen when others are talking, turn your projects in on time, be respectful, etc...
1. Where should I save my project? Save your project to a USB drive. You can get one at nearly any store for a few dollars.
2. I can't find my project? It's not where I saved it. Sorry, you're out of luck. Are you on the same computer? Open the program and see if there is a "recent" menu.
3. I just opened my project but now all of my layers are gone. You probably saved it as a JPEG. if this is the case you've lost all of your layers forever. search to see if you saved it as a .psd
4. I am trying to put my project onto my website but It's not there. if you're on weebly it won't recognize a .psd file. do a "save as" and save your project as a .jpeg so weebly will recognize it.
5. which printer should i print to? first, all of your projects should be turned in on your website you have created. second, if you do want to print your project in color
5. how do i add special effects to my text and layers? Look back at the lessons and tutorials found on this site. If all else fails google what you are trying to accomplish. for example, google: "how to turn a photo black and white in photoshop"
6. how do i step backwards? first, "step backwards" is different than undo. "step backwards" will as the name says, take a step backwards for each action you have taken. you can press alt+ctrl+z or within the edit menu you can click on "step backwards" .
7. i am trying to do something (paint, erase, etc...) but nothing is working. make sure you have the correct layer active, second double-check your selection. often times you have something selected and the action won't work on anything except for the selection.
8. My layers panel is gone. Where did it go? press f7 or within the "window" menu select layers
9. where do i find the character window? within the "window" menu select "character" or if it is already selected look for an uppercase "A"with a vertical line to the right of it.
10. what tool do i use to select something? you have many options depending on the situation. typically, you can use the marquee tool, selection tool, or the lasso tool.
11. why doesn't my clone stamp work? select your target first (alt+click) so you will have your source
12. How do i make my brush (or eraser, clone stamp, etc...) bigger/smaller? As with most things in photoshop there are several ways. the easiest is to use the bracket keys "[ or ]" found just to the right of the letter P on the keyboard.
13. How do i zoom in? AS WITH MOST THINGS IN PHOTOSHOP THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS. THE EASIEST IS TO click "ctrl and +" to zoom in and "ctrl and -" to zoom out. within the "view" menu there are several zoom options. You can also find the magnifying glass within the toolbar to enable zoom options.
14. When i pasted my picture it showed up as black & white. But I want it in color. Most likely your original image you copied was black & White so photoshop defaulted to B&W. within the "image" menu hover over "mode" and select the color mode you desire, usually RGB color.
15. how do i resize my image? Ctrl + T or within the "edit" menu select "free Transform". as with most things in photoshop there are variations on how to resize an image but this method is the most common and easiest method.
16. how do i change the size of my project? if you are already working on a project go to the "image" menu and select "image size". note: if you don't want your image to stay proportional deselect the chain icon connecting to the two image sizes.
17. there is another tool where the one i want is located. Many tools have sub-options to each tool. you can identify which icon has sub-options by looking to the lower right hand corner of the icon. if the icon has a small triangle in the corner there are sub-options. click and hold on the icon to bring up a sub-menu to find your tool.
